Trash to Treasure

You suggested it, I did it.  After making matching bibs to accessorize the nappies, I was given another challenge.  A reader suggested I appliqué the bibs.  I must admit, I didn’t know what appliqué was… it sounded like something tricky one does with fancy thread and an expensive sewing machine, but it’s not!bot camp bibs Its taking a piece of the print and sewing it on a different background as a feature.

This means I can make matching bibs out of fabric off-cuts, even when the scraps are so small that they’re bound for the garbage.  So here’s the results: turning trash into treasure.  flamin'groovy nap 'n bib

I don’t personally use bibs much, preferring to let baby’s clothes do the job instead, but all my baby clothes are ruined as a result.

Doing this gives me the chance to make something else besides nappies.  I also like that I’m recycling scrap material, and I have some thing to include as a little “bonus” to my valued customers.  So thanks for the suggestion (you know who you are). botcamp bib
